I chose to mix animals, from a dry and hot climate with deep underwater creatures. I had used a whale body, shark head and fins, the eyes and spikes of a lizard, and the tentacles of an octopus. I’ve used spikes on the tentacles instead of suction rings on the tentacles, so the animal stabs its prey and kills it before eating it. The shark head and teeth are to make the creature look scary and the teeth to make it easy to tare apart prey. The spikes of the lizard are also used for defense and a whale body enable me to give my creatures body some length. I explored many options for the overall finish of my creature. One of the mediums I liked was using wood ash mixed with gel medium. I then dusted more ash cover the body. This gave it an interesting texture and I felt it gave it camouflage effect with the bottom of the ocean.
